These days, a night of entertainment usually means getting comfortable on the couch with the latest series on Netflix. But in case you were looking to switch things up, there are plenty of opportunities to see some live entertainment in Surrey in the coming months. From pantomime to fairy tales, these live stage performances have enough excitement and variety to rival your Netflix queue.

Peter Pan the Panto
Originating in Ancient Rome, pantomime is a type of musical-comedy stage performance in which actors perform a lively and humorous version of classic fairy tales. Out of this lighthearted tradition comes Peter Pan the Panto, a colourful spin on the classic tale of Peter Pan and Captain Hook. You can catch this family friendly show at the Main Stage at the Surrey Arts Centre from November 22nd to December 2nd.

The New Conformity
The performers of Cause and Effect Circus bring the art of juggling to a new level with The New Conformity, using it not only as a gravity defying spectacle, but to enact a story with universal themes. Anchored by a beautifully choreographed circus inspired performance, The New Conformity tells of the relationship between three coworkers who wrestle with their identity as they discover deeper truths about themselves. This award winning show is playing at Centre Stage at Surrey City Hall on November 30th.

Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir: Sounds of Christmas
You’ve probably had a Christmas song or two stuck in your head since November, so why not hear them harmonized live by an eighty member choir? The Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir will be performing some traditional and contemporary holiday songs in a concert that’s been an audience favourite in cities across the Lower Mainland. The choir will be performing on December 4th at the Surrey Arts Centre.

July 6 & 7, FVDED in the Park returns to Surrey’s Holland Park for the fourth year. Boasting a high calibre line-up, featuring some of the biggest names in dance, hip hop, rap and modern R&B, this two-day festival is the ultimate in urban beats.

Yes, outdoor summer music festivals are about music, but what makes a festival special is the vibe. FVDED has an abundance of that raw energy. Located in Surrey’s “central park”, with three state-of-the-art stages, festival goers will enjoy sun-drenched days and evening performances under starry skies – all within the cityscape of metro Vancouver. FVDED has capacity for up to 40,000 festival-goers, and with this year’s stacked line-up, it is sure to sell out.

The artist roster, headlined by American rapper Future and Norwegian DJ Kygo, also includes Kehlani, DJ Kaskade, Bazzi, Illenium, London On Da Track and more. Details on the full line-up, and ticket purchase, are available at FVDED In The Park. The single-day line-ups were recently announced, but you’ll find it difficult to choose as both days are loaded with favourites and soon-to-be favourites.

Experienced festival-goers know to bring a pack with sunscreen, a blanket and a jacket in case weather changes. FVDED is offering lockers for rent AND they include universal cell phone charging. Capturing photos and video can run down your battery quickly, so the ability to re-charge is a huge plus!

The Best Western King George Inn & Suites is conveniently located less than 5km away from the FVDED Holland Park venue, and offers contemporary, comfortable rooms, complimentary wi-fi, parking and breakfast, and an indoor pool. After a day of grooving to the beats, sink into your comfy bed and drift off, with your favourite tunes coaxing you toward dreamland.
